Go Green with Reuse Pass

Tulane is expanding its waste prevention efforts with our Commons To-Go Program, powered by ReusePass. Whether you want to enjoy a quiet meal in your room or have a picnic on our university’s beautiful campus, this program offers a convenient new way to enjoy a meal beyond the Malkin-Sacks Commons.

Commons To-Go

How It Works:

  • 1. Sign Up

Before using a To-Go container, register for this program at app.reusepass.com, select Tulane as your campus and enter your Tulane email address to retrieve your personal QR code. This code can be accessed at any time on the ReusePass website or saved to your phone wallet (Google Wallet or Apple Pay) for easy scanning.

  • 2. Show your ReUsePass QR Code

Get a Box Swipe in at The Malkin-Sacks Commons and request a To-Go box from the cashier.

  • 3. Fill Up & Go

Once you’ve received your box, bring it to your favorite stations and hand it to the chef. They’ll put your meal in the container and hand it right back to you.

  • 4. Return the Container

Rinse your container and drop it in the appropriate ReusePass return bin. You can find the return bins for the Commons To-Go boxes near the first-floor entrances to the Malkin-Sacks Commons.

Additional Information:

*Because True Balance is a dedicated allergen-friendly station, food from this station will be served on a separate plate. Students who wish to take their meal to go from this station will be asked to transfer it into their container themselves. This helps students with food allergies remain fully in control of cross-contact and food handling.

*ReUsePass To-Go containers should be returned within 3 days of checking them out to avoid a $5 late fee.

Program Guidelines

  • The Commons To-Go Program is available seven days a week during all hours of operation at the Malkin Sacks Commons.
  • Please do not microwave the To-Go containers. They use metal RFID chips to track check-ins and will be damaged in a microwave.
  • You can visit multiple stations with one box, but our chefs will not over-fill your container.
  • To-go boxes must be able to fully close before leaving The Commons. Containers that are overfilled or cannot be closed will not be accepted by our chefs.
  • Do not return containers to the standard dish return inside of the Malkin-Sacks Commons. Always use the labeled return bins located near the entrances on the first floor of the Commons.
  • To-Go containers should not be brought into classrooms or academic spaces that disallow food and beverages.
  • When you receive your food, please exit the dining venue before enjoying your meal. This helps maintain a clear distinction between dine-in and takeout traffic.
  • Please do not attempt to re-use a container you have checked out previously. Always return your used container, and grab a pick up a new one from our cashiers.
