We are proud to support our students and guest with gluten intolerances and Celiac Disease.

Navigating Residential Dining

    Made Without Gluten Menu Items

Be the look- out for the symbol on the menu boards and online menus at the Malik Sacks Commons and Green Wave Grille, which indicates if a menu item was made without Gluten.

  • The "true balance" logo in white lowercase text on a dark forest-green background, with the tagline "made without gluten & the top 9 allergens."

Check Out the True Balance Station

On the Second Floor of the Malkin- Stacks Commons, you can find our Allercheck-Certified True Balance station, which features specially trained staff members that serve delicious meals made without gluten, or the top nine allergies, which include eggs, milk, peanuts, tree nuts, sesame, fish, shellfish, soy, and wheat.

  • A digital interface snippet labeled "Dietary Preferences" on a white background with a sub-instruction to filter menus. Four pill-shaped filter buttons are visible: "Vegan", "Vegetarian", "Coolfood Meal", and "Made Without Gluten", with a pixelated black hand cursor hovering over the "Made Without Gluten" option.

    Use Our Online Menu

While browsing our online menus for the Makin Sacks Commons and Green Wave Grille, click on "My Menu Preferences" and choose "Made Without Gluten" to see every item for the meal period that was made without gluten.

  • A clean, organized campus pantry with white tiled walls, featuring glass-door refrigerators, a microwave, and counters stocked with snack bins and supplies

    The Stress Less Pantry

The Stress Less Pantry on the second floor of the Malkin Sacks Commons is a dedicated space designed for guests with a medical need for gluten-friendly food options. Here, you will find options to complement typical dining hall offerings rather than replace them entirely. Most items are individually wrapped by the manufacturer and may omit some of the 9 major allergens. Our primary focus is on eliminating the risk of cross-contact with gluten (wheat, barley, rye) within this space. While this pantry is specifically tailored to exclude gluten, many of the approved products also avoid other common allergens. However, we always recommend that guests carefully review product labels before enjoying items from the stress less pantry.

Tips for Reducing Cross Contact

While more than 200 members of our staff are AllerTrain® or AllerTrain® Lite certified, you can still request special assistance if you are concerned about cross-contact with potential allergens:
  • Ask a dining employee to change their gloves and use new utensils or a fresh pan at made-to-order stations.
  • Speak to a dining employee if you need access to allergy-friendly designated equipment.
  • Items from self-serve stations, such as the salad bar, can be offered from behind the serving line if requested.
  • Take extra precautions at all stations where cross contact may be more likely to occur, such as the bakery, salad bar, and grill.
